“It seemed to me when I was a kid in Holly, and it seems to me now, that at the most fundamental level, government ought to help make sure people have the opportunity to share in the good life."

Gov. Roy Romer

From The Best Place to Raise a Child, 1997

oy Rudloph Romer, Colorado’s 39th Governor, dedicated his life to public service. He served as a member of Colorado’s State House of Representatives and Colorado State Senate as well as Colorado Commissioner of Agriculture, Chief of Staff to Colorado Governor Dick Lamm and Colorado State Treasurer. Gov. Romer’s childhood in the farming community, Holly, Colorado formed the bedrock of his belief that we were meant to be of service to one another. His gubernatorial focus of “making Colorado the best place to raise a child” led to advances for children across the state and served as a model for national progress. His work on Colorado’s economy, environment, higher education and a host of other issues stand today as the foundation of a thriving state.
